Mr. Bruce T. Blanc, of Medina, passed away on Valentine’s Day, 2017 at his home with family and close friends by his side after a very courageous 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Blanc was born in Rochester, April 21, 1943, a son of the late Bruce Eugene and Joan Margaret (McKinnon) Blanc. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1961, he attended Syracuse University and served in the US Coast Guard from August, 1962 to August, 1966. He married the former Linda S. Moden on February 13, 1965. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Monday. Bruce began his career at the United States Post Office in Medina as a letter carrier and retired as the Officer in Charge at the Medina Post Office following 30 years of service. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Medina, Shelridge Country Club, Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and a former member of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and fishing. He bowled with the Fire Fighters League for 30 years and enjoyed many trips with friends to Canadian fishing camps. He enjoyed intarsia, a woodworking technique. He operated an eBay store for 15 years where he sold his intarsia wood art worldwide. He played softball with the VFW and was an umpire for the Powder Puff league. He and Linda also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife, Linda; 2 daughters, Carla Blanc and Hollie Hall; his grandson, Nathan Hall; his brother, David (Kelly) Blanc; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gary R. (late Patricia) Blanc and his niece, Amy Jo Castricone. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2PM at the United Methodist Church, 11004 West Center Street Ext, Medina. The Rev. Anthony Hipes will officiate. Interment will be in Millville Cemetery in the spring where military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medina United Methodist Church, Hospice of Orleans County or the Knights/Kaderli Memorial Fund.
