Lawrence E. "Papa" "Casey" Casey

Mr. Lawrence E. “Papa” “Casey” Casey, passed away on June 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Medina Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Casey was born in Medina, February 19, 1938, the son of the late Charles and Louise (Stawniak) Casey.  A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1957, he married the former Dorothy Stump on August 26, 1972.  He was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC, as a air conditioner packer, and retired in 1996. 

Active in the Medina area, Larry was a longtime member of the Junior Wilson Sportsmen’s Club.  He had been a social member of the American Legion, VFW, Medina Council #651, Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart Club.  Papa especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; 2 daughters, Kristin Casey Bloom and Candace (Oscar) Pitts; 4 grandchildren, Tyler Thomas, MacKenzie Bennett, Ayzha Pitts and Justin Pitts; 2 great grandchildren, Nova Marie Thomas and Serenity Chinn; his brother-in-law, Gerard (Carrie) Wittmeyer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his sister, Marcia Wittmeyer and parents, Charles and Louise Casey.

Friends may call on Thursday (3-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his funeral service will be held on Friday at 11AM.  The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls, pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, will officate and interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
