Our Family

Jacob B. Hebdon
Licensed Funeral Director & Owner
Originally from the Batavia area, I grew up in the Alexander community. I graduated as president of my class at Alexander High School in 2003 and furthered my education at the SUNY University at Buffalo. A passion for helping others led me to pursue my true calling, which was in funeral service. In 2006, I graduated valedictorian from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse. Since 2007, I have been a NYS Licensed Funeral Director serving the greater Medina community at Cooper Funeral Home. I bring to the role my deep passion and commitment to serving families in their time of need. Following 11 years of mentorship with owner Timothy Cooper, I took over ownership in 2018. In April of 2024, my colleagues David and Joshua Mitchell, owners of Mitchell Family Cremations & Funerals, and I had the opportunity to merge our ownerships. We now co-own our five funeral home locations together as a team with the goal of serving the families of the greater Orleans and eastern Niagara County areas with the utmost standard of care. I am a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, NYS Funeral Directors Association and the Erie-Niagara Funeral Directors Association. Locally, I enjoy taking part in the revitalization of the Medina community. I am the current chairman of the Boxwood Cemetery Commission and also serve on the boards of the Orleans Renaissance Group (ORG) and the Village of Medina Municipal Tree Board. I have had a strong interest in historic preservation and architecture from an early age. My partner Justin and I are currently restoring a 1920s colonial revival, where we live with our two dogs, Vada and Thomas J.

Bryanna Frens
Funeral Intern
I was raised in East Pembroke, NY, and moved to Medina in 2022 with my Fiancé, Kyle. In 2019, I graduated with honors from Pembroke High School, where I was a cheerleader for 12 years, a member of the choir for 10 years and the basketball team for 6 years. In 2021, I graduated from Genesee Community College with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences. I have always had a passion for art, science, and helping others, so funeral service felt like a perfect fit. After much consideration, I decided that I wanted to become a Funeral Director and help guide families through one of the most challenging times of their lives. I am now pursuing an associate degree at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and hope to graduate in January of 2026. After beginning my journey with Cooper Funeral Home and Mitchell Family Cremations & Funerals, I know that I have made the right decision, because I love my job. Besides school and work, in my free time I love creating art, enjoying music, singing, and spending time with my family. I also have three beloved cats who take up a lot of my spare time.
