David J. Kennedy, entered in rest on August 28, 2020.
David was born in Medina on April 21, 1947 to John and Agnes (Kinn) Kennedy. He played football for and graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1965. He earned an MBA from Northeastern University and went into the clothing business with his brother, Donald at Kennedy Brothers which became a main street fixture for many years. David was very active in the Medina Lions Club for much of his life and was an extremely devoted fan of the Yankees. He owned season tickets for the Buffalo Bills for many years and was a Sabres season ticket holder from the team’s beginning, back in 1970. David was a long time parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his wife of 20 years, Nancy (Woodbridge) Kennedy in 2015; brothers, Donald and Jack Kennedy; and sister in-law, Mary Kennedy.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas Kennedy; sisters in-law, Betsey and Patricia Kennedy; two step-sons, Scott (Christine) and Eric (Kathie) Horton; grandsons Jesse, Gregory (Anna) and Michael; granddaughter, Amber; great-grandson, Jackson; and David’s girlfriend, Julia Bacon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday Sept. 11th from 4-7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Sept. 12th at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Private inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the St. Peter Columbarium.
