Shirley J. Davies

Mrs. Shirley J. Davies, of East Shelby, passed away on April 4, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Davies was born at home in Medina, March 29, 1933, the only child of the late Dayton and Alice (Sanborn) Wall. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1951 and Rochester School of Nursing, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at the New York State Hospital at Ray Brook. Later she worked for the Batavia Hospital, Medina Memorial Hospital, Orchard Manor Nursing Home and retired from the Orleans County Nursing Home in 1995. Mrs. Davies loved reading, knitting and the outdoors. She was also a great cook! Very family oriented, she leaves behind her husband of nearly 56 years, James E. Davies, whom she married on November 18, 1961; 7 children, Kim (Bob) Davis, Debbie (Rick) Corke, Cindy (David) Ranlett, Mary Jo (Jim Dymond) Davies, Tracy Davies, Vicki Lowe and Jimmy (Margie) Davies; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and her best friend, Happy. A private service will be held at the family farm where a beautiful White Oak tree will grow from her cremated remains to keep her memory present for family and friends.
