Alida S. Watkins

Alida S. “Sig” Watkins, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 93.

Born June 10, 1926 in the Town of Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Dunn) Hale. Alida worked at the Apple Grove Inn in Medina for many years, first, as a waitress starting in 1952 and eventually became manager in the early 1960’s. In 1974 she left and opened the Half Moon Inn in Ridgeway. She retired in 1980. Alida married Lloyd J. Watkins in 1981 and together moved to Mesa, Arizona. She was currently residing in Henderson, Nevada until her passing. Alida was a hard-working and loving mother of four and will be greatly missed by those that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1993.

Survivors include her four children; daughters, Bonnie Coffey of Kentucky, Carlyle Scholes of Medina, Connie Griffie of Nevada and son, Bert (Maxine) VanAuker of Middleport; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19th at 2 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery in Lockport.
