Alonzo E. Evans

Alonzo E. Evans, 92, of Medina, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Born on March 30, 1932 in the Town of Shelby, he was a son of the late George and Irene (Gardner) Evans. Alonzo graduated from Medina High School, Class of 1950. In 1956 he married the former Marian Goldsmith. Shortly after, he went to work for Agway. With farming in his blood, Alonzo owned and operated a dairy farm alongside his brother Leon, which they ran from the early 1960s until 1994. He continued in grain farming until 2022, when he retired at the age of 90.

Alonzo was predeceased by his wife, Marian Evans in 2017; all four of his siblings, Leon Evans, Donald Evans, Betty Evans and Dorothy (James) Flood.

He is survived by his two sons, Gary Evans and Kenneth Evans both of Medina; a grandson, Kyle Evans; great-granddaughter, Malia Evans both of Florida; two nieces, Linda (Gary) Houseman of Medina and Viola (Sam) Wahnon of Greenfield, NY; a nephew, Gary (Bonnie) Goldsmith of Florida; and several cousins.

His graveside committal service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 11AM at Bates Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
