Clifford J. Johnson

Clifford J. Johnson, Sr., age 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2025 peacefully in his sleep at the Medina Memorial Hospital- North Wing Skilled Nursing Facility. 

Born September 26, 1938 in Limestone, NY, he was the youngest of fourteen children of the late Robert and Laura M. (Lafferty) Johnson. Cliff grew up on his family’s farm in Limestone. He was married and had a family of four children. Cliff worked as a machinist at the Dresser Clark Co. in Olean. He also was active with the volunteer fire company in Olean. Sadly, Cliff sustained debilitating injuries in a motor vehicle accident which had long term effects on his health, family and work life. He was an avid fisherman, sports enthusiast and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Cliff and his wife, Elaine Johnson lived in Newark, NY for many years until deciding to move to Orleans County to be closer to his children.

Cliff was predeceased by his wife, Elaine in 2005; and thirteen siblings, Gertha Greene, Don Johnson, Robert A. Johnson, Lorida Johnson, Leona Beere, O. Gerald Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Lois Johnson, Martha Johnson, Lionel Johnson, Blanche Fuller, infant Ardis Johnson and Audrey West. 

Survivors include his four children, Clifford (Cheryl) Johnson, Jr. of Middleport, William (Joanne) Johnson of Medina, Patty (Rick) Amrhein of Attica and Sherry Johnson of Niagara Falls; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private interment will be in the Kenyonville Cemetery, Waterport. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Medina Memorial Hospital- North Wing Activities Program, 200 Ohio St., Medina, NY 14103.
