Donald J. Fortunato

Donald J. Fortunato, 87, of Medina, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Unity Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.

Born April 20, 1937 in Medina, he was a son of the late Jesse and Angelina (Cappabianca) Fortunato. Mr. Fortunato was a graduate of Medina High School Class of 1957 and went on to serve in the Army National Guard. He graduated from the Trott Vocational School with a focus in sheet metal trade. In 1961 he married Florence M. Maryjanowski and the couple made their home in Medina. Mr. Fortunato worked for Eastman Kodak Co., retiring after 31 years. He was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart RC Church and currently an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Mr. Fortunato held his private pilot’s license for many years. He was a history buff, enjoyed hunting, gardening and was a skilled woodworker. Mr. Fortunato was well known for his cooking, especially his pizza and ravioli.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Florence Fortunato; two sons, Steven Fortunato and Paul (Michelle) Fortunato; grandchildren, Ashley Fortunato and Anthony (Kaitlyn) Fortunato; great-grandchildren, Jayden Shivley, Jesse Fortunato and Anabella Fortunato; and his brother, Caesar (Mary) Fortunato; and several nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
