George A. Brownell II

George A. Brownell II, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 following a brief illness.

Born December 12, 1946 in Buffalo, he was a son of the late Abbott F. and Louise (O’Donnell) Brownell. George was a graduate of Medina High School, Class of 1966. He worked for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina as a line worker and forklift operator in the warehouse. George was proud of the log cabin that he built on Fruit Avenue in Medina. There, he kept busy with raising animals and with various projects. For 75 years, George enjoyed spending summers at their family home in Castine, Maine. He enjoyed playing backgammon and loved his Oreos and Coca Cola. George was a faithful patron at Rudy’s Diner. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dave Nolan, Peggy and Bill Baxter and the staff at the Willows for the special care given to George in his final years.

In addition to his parents George was predeceased by two brothers, Abbott Brownell, Jr. and William Brownell, Phd.

Surviving are his two children, David P. Brownell and Brenda (Gary) Banazwski both of Medina; granddaughter, Brittany L. Marciszewski also of Medina; grandson, Noah J. Banazwski of Auburn, NY; his sister, Theresa “Terri” Brownell of St. Petersburg, FL; and several extended family members. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 4-7PM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 1PM also at the funeral home.
