Gordon H. Hermann

Gordon H. Hermann, of Medina, entered into rest on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the age of 87.

Mr. Hermann was born in Medina on April 23, 1935, a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Harrod) Herman. At the young age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Fisk from 1953-1956. He married the former Ruth Gross on January 21, 1956 and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. Mr. Hermann was employed at the Albion Correctional Facility as an Industrial Supervisor and retired after 22 years in 1995. He was a member of Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and Lincoln Post #1483, V.F.W. Mr. Hermann loved to play euchre and, being an avid golfer, was a member of both the Shelridge Country Club and Niagara Orleans Country Club.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Neal (Pat) Hermann, Lyle (Bonnie) Hermann, Douglas (Jill) Hermann and Amy (Christopher) Gienau; nine grandchildren, Leanne (Nick) Olshavsky, Kathryn (Chris) Fischer, Danielle (Mike) Kickbush, Christine (Matt) Smith, Nicholas (Megan) Hermann, Andrew (Danielle Hewitt) Hermann, Olivia (Seth) Karas, Trevor Gienau and Evan Gienau; eleven great-grandchildren, Emma and Lucas Olshavsky, Caden and Colton Fischer, Aydan Kickbush, Allie and Carsyn Smith, William and Jake Hermann, Levi Hermann and Drew Karas; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Hermann, on December 24, 2002; infant great-grandson, Henry James Karas; and five siblings, Valdo, Bernard, Louis “Alley”, Carl Herman and June Gardner.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 9 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His memorial service will be on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10:00 am, also at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.
