Jeanette F. (Sanford) Phillips, of Medina, entered into rest on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital.
Jeanette was born in Albion on July 29, 1932, a daughter to the late William and Beulah (Bordeney) Sanford. She attended the Culver Academy and was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1951. On October 31, 1953 she married George B. Phillips. After marriage, she and her husband were lifelong residence of the Medina area. Jeanette worked as a hairdresser for many years, picked apples for Roberts Farms and also worked as a cook for Medina Central School. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church in Medina. She sang in the choir, was a member of the Elizabeth Circle, taught Sunday school and served as the Sunday school superintendent. Jeanette enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing arts and crafts.
Survivors include her three sons, Dennis B. (Mary Jo Capodice,) Phillips, MD, Terry L. Phillips and Dale A. Phillips; 4 grandchildren, George M. Phillips, William J. Phillips, Tyler Froman and Kara Froman; a brother-in-law, Allen (Gladys) Phillips; 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia Phillips and Mildred “Millie” Bayne; 3 special nieces, Vicky Beatte, Zoe Daily and Sandy Young; very good friends, Mary Hall, Jean Sipple and Leslee Harmer; and her wonderful neighbors on Erin Road. Besides her parents Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, George B. Phillips on May 8, 1991 and siblings, Ruth Spencer, Ellen Witzel, Merle Boire and Carole Bond.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the First Baptist Church- 203 W. Center St., Medina. The Rev. Michael Stephenson will officiate and private burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
