Muriel N. Newman, 95, of Lyndonville, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Born on July 5, 1926 in the Town of Somerset, she was one of nine children of the late Perry Livingston Smith and Bessie June (Collins) Smith. Muriel grew up in the Barker-Lyndonville area and attended the Barker School District. She married Keith W. Newman on July 15, 1950 and raised a family of two children. In her earlier years, Muriel worked as a nurse. She also worked picking fruit in the orchards and farming with her husband. She then worked for the Lyndonville Canning Factory and finally for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, where she retired after 20 years. Muriel enjoyed playing the piano and was a great baker. She also enjoyed sewing, drawing and especially enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Newman on September 1, 2021; her son, Keith D. Newman on August 25, 2021; seven siblings, Harold Smith, Edwin Smith, Marylou Rupple, Robert Smith, Wally-A. Smith, Sally Kubatek and recently, Carol Beeby on October 14, 2021; and brother in-law, Richard Kubatek on October 22, 2021.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Anthony) Fiasco of Middleport; daughter in-law, Tina Newman of GA; grandchildren, Aaron Newman, Valerie (Travis) Brasseur, Danielle (Justin) Seefeldt, Joshua (Sara) Fiasco and Jakob Fiasco; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Gary) Suzanne; sisters in-law, Alice (Walter) Crutts; and several nieces and nephews.
An hour of calling will be held on Saturday, November 20th from 11:00am-12:00pm, with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Rev. Olga Gonzalez-Santiago will officiate and interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 107 N. Main St., Lyndonville, NY 14098.
