Raymond L. Coon

Raymond L. Coon, age 69, of Canandaigua, NY and formerly of Medina, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2025. 

Raymond was born on February 16, 1955 in Medina, a son of the late Wallace Sheldon Coon and Alice Lorraine (Waltz) Coon. He attended Medina High School. Growing up Ray’s most prized possessions were his go cart and his green Pontiac GTO. Ray struggled with mental illness from a young age, which had a profound impact on his family. Over the years, Ray lived throughout Western and Central New York. He worked for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina and also as a farm hand among various other jobs. He enjoyed listening to music, being outdoors and taking care of animals, especially cats.

Raymond is predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Roger Coon, Douglas Coon, Carol (Joseph) Szalay and Duane Coon.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Coon; sisters, Lucinda Egan, Shirley Raetz and Alice (John) Tirtadjaja; sisters-in-law, Neomi Coon, Therese Coon and Debbie Coon; and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews. 

Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
