Royce N. Caleb, Sr.

Royce N. Caleb, Sr., 82, of Medina entered into rest on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Born March 4, 1937, he was a son of the late Harrison W. and Ana Marie (Davis) Caleb. Royce graduated from Medina High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the Air National Guard. For many years he owned and operated the Towpath Grocery Store in Knowlesville alongside his wife, Beverly. Royce was a lifelong member and past president of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company and was also involved with the Medina Mustang Band Boosters. He worked for many years as a truck driver for Keeler Construction after which he worked as a bus driver for Medina Central School District. Whether he was running his water hauling business, doing woodworking or helping out his neighbors, Royce loved to keep busy. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Survivors include his three children, Royce “Rusty” (Lanore) Caleb, Jr., Debra (Bill) Lavigne and Terry (Wendy) Caleb; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Bock, Brian Caleb, Adam (Jennifer) Lavigne, Courtney (Michael) Gilday, Allison (Chris) Reichard, Nicole (Brent) Habgood and Kristopher (Michael) Reinstadtler; eight great-granchildren; sisters in-law, Luella Caleb, Janice Caleb and Donna Chilson; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly C. Caleb on April 11, 2019; and four siblings, Ruth (Frank) Fenton, Harrison (Ruthie) Caleb, Arnold Caleb and Lyell Caleb.

Family and friends are invited to a casual reception in memory of Royce on Thursday, August 22nd from 4-7 p.m. at the Ridgeway Fire Hall, 11392 Ridge Rd., Medina. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Co. or to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, Medina.
