Thomas J. Vendetta, 88, of Gasport, NY, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Buffalo, NY.
Son of the late Thomas A. and Amelia (Castricone) Vendetta, he was born November 15, 1932 in Hulberton, NY. Thomas served in the U.S Navy from 1951-1955. On April 24, 1954 he married the former Barbara Joann Helms. Thomas was employed by Simonds Saw and Steel, later Gurterl Steel for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, Nascar, traveling and visiting Joann’s family in VA. Thomas’ greatest pleasure most of all was being surrounded by his family at his home and the traditional pizza and wing party when his son, daughter-in-law and grandson would visit from VA.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara Joann Vendetta on September 30, 2020; grandson, Kevin J. Vendetta in 2018; and sister, Carolyn Petkus in 2019.
He is survived by three children, Dennis J. (Debra) Vendetta; Daniel T. (Ruth Ann) Vendetta and Gina D. (Michael) Bucolo; four grandchildren, Michael T. (Sara) Vendetta, Mathew T. Vendetta, Mario J. Bucolo and Samuel J. Bucolo; one great-granddaughter, Amelia R. Vendetta. He is also survived by his sister, Joann Beyer; brothers, Richard M. Vendetta and Francis A (Deborah) Vendetta; a special aunt, Josephine Paduana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, Dec. 20th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center St., Medina. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle Street Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. A Graveside service will be held at Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery, Hanover, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org/donate.
