Mr. John R. Fox, Sr., of the Town of Ridgeway, passed away on March 15, 2017 at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence.
Mr. Fox was born in Buffalo, April 12, 1942, a son of the late William and Charlotte (McGowan) Fox. A graduate of Barker High School, he married the former Carol Sevenski in November,1969. John served with the Army Reserves. He owned and operated John R. Fox & Son, General Contractors, for many years. They built many local projects including Medina Pizza Hut, Lake Plains Eye Clinic, Orleans County Administration Building, Medina Kentucky Fried Chicken, rebuilding of Sacred Heart Church following the fire, among others. In the early 1980’s, he became the Town of Ridgeway Code Enforcement and Zoning Officer and retired in 2003. John coached baseball for sixteen years, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed his garden and snowmobiling. He was a member of Medina Chamber of Commerce and the Lyndonville Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carol Fox; 4 sons, John R. (Apryl) Fox, Thomas (Jill) Fox, Jeffrey (Landa) Fox and Aric (Emily) Fox; grandchildren, Brayden, Carly, Dylan, Madison, Tommy, Caleb, Hannah, Aric II and Adalynne; 3 brothers, William, James and Richard Fox and his sister, Jane Schumacher; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will officiate his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church.
