John E. Sevenski

Mr. John E. Sevenski, of Medina, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2017 at his home. Mr. Sevenski was born in Town of Shelby, February 5, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Esther (Koneski) Sevenski.  A graduate of Barker High School, he entered the US Marine Corps on December 21, 1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre until his discharge as a corporal on June 8, 1946.  He saw action in the Battle of Iwo Jima and served in the Occupation of Japan. Mr. Sevenski was employed as an Executive at General Electric in Brockport his entire career.  He was an avid golfer and a former member of Shelridge Country Club.  He spent many happy winters in Delray Beach and Highland, Florida and will be remembered as a sweet and gentle man. Survivors include his very good friend, Kathleen Campbell; his brother, David “Duke” Sevenski and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his partner, Mary Lou Campbell; siblings, Bernice Sevenski, Vincent (late Regena) Sevenski, Mearl (late Rena) Sevenski, Anna (late Leo) Turoski, Josephine (late Joseph) Flower, Christine (late Sylvester) Flower, Helen Sevenski, Francis R. (late Dorothy) Sevenski, Sr., Leona (late Bernard) Flower and Raymond (late Victoria) Sevenski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his service on Monday at 11AM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina.  The Rev. Joseph Fifagrowicz will officiate and military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans County, POB 489, Albion, NY  14411 or Lincoln Post #1483, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 216 E. Center St., Medina, NY  14103.
