Mr. Donald R. Balcerzak, of Medina, passed away on February 25, 2018 at the Villages of Orleans.

Mr. Balcerzak was born in Medina, December 13, 1935, a son Anthony and Agnes (Cotriss) Balcerzak.  A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1956, he served with the US Army Corps of Engineers for two tours.  He served with the US Army from August 13, 1958 to August 12, 1960 and from October 15, 1961 to August 3, 1962 and was discharged with the rank of SP 5.  He married the former Nedra Ann Palmer on September 30, 1961.

Mr. Balcerzak was employed by Frank J. Balcerzak & Son, Inc., as a heavy equipment operator, later with various other construction companies.  He loved pheasant hunting and his dogs.  He had numerous dogs over the years, his last being Buffy, a very energetic and spoiled golden retriever.

Survivors include his daughter, Amanda (Victor) L. Moore; 2 grandchildren, Chad and Jenna Moore; 2 sisters, Helen (late Thomas) Morien and Loretta (late Leo) Koneski; 3 brothers, Michael (Caroline) Balcerzak, Leonard (Kathy) Balcerzak and Francis (late Ann) Balcerzak; 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia Balcerzak and Linda (Charles Roth) Hayes; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by the love of his life, Nedra, on Oct. 1, 2017, and his siblings, Joseph and Anthony Balcerzak, Mary Knights, Eleanor Rignall and Katherine Gunn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside committal service on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11AM at Boxwood Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Susan Boring.  Military honors will be accorded by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. 

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, POB 489, Albion, NY  14411 or a charity of one’s choice.
