Charles R. Allen, Sr.

Mr. Charles R. Allen, Sr. entered into rest on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.  He just celebrated his 75th birthday on September 22, being born in 1943.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Adrian Delos Allen, Sr. and Maude (Sargent) Allen; also a sister Bessie (Allen) Pinker; a brother, Adrian Delos Allen, Jr. and his granddaughter, Tasha L. Allen.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy A. (Ruger) Allen; 3 sons, Charles R. (Sherry Howse) Allen, Jr., Jeffrey L. (Jennifer) Allen and David M. (Roseanne) Allen; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Charlie loved to read, and he made one or two trips to the library every week, reading between one and three books each week.  He LOVED all his grandchildren, and he really enjoyed a good picnic with friends and family.

Charlie was a longtime member of the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company, having just received his 45 year certificate at the most recent installation banquet.  He and his wife loved to play bingo there every Saturday night as well as other locations other nights of the week, when bingo used to be held often back in the day. Charlie was also a former member of the Junior Wilson Sportsman’s Club in Medina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company or the Knights/Kaderli Memorial Fund.
