Mrs. Shirley Verna Mae Jurinich, of Medina, NY and Ruskin, FL, died suddenly on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jurinich was born in Port Matilda, PA, February 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl (Bickle) Zeigler. She owned and operated the Village Green and Park House Restaurants along with her husband, Joseph Jurinich, II, for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish/St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Lyndonville. She sang in the church choir and prepared and served meals for many special church functions. Active in the community, she served on both the Town of Yates and Orleans County Planning Boards and was a member of the Medina Memorial Hospital Twig Association. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Agnes Recco; six children, Joan (John) Doran of Waterport, Bernadina Townsend of Dryden, Joseph (Sandy) Jurinich III of Riverview, FL, William C. Jurinich and Michael (Jacqueline) Jurinich both of Lyndonville and Cynthia (Robert) Turner of Albion; twenty grandchildren, Jon (Kim) Doran, Jeff (Patty) Doran, Matt (Fran) Doran, Chris (Barb) Doran, Adam (Jennie) Doran, Christopher Townsend, Tracey Calloway, Gretchen Schubert, Laura Leiva, Katie Jurinich, Joseph Jurinich IV, Laura (Pete) Welkey, Billie Jo (Jonathon Freed) Shernesky, Max P. Joseph Jurinich, Jenelle (Ralph) Boyd, April (Christopher) Williams, Lindsay Smith, Samantha (Ron) Croft, Jeremy (Maria) Turner, Justin Turner; 38 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; a brother, Walter Zeigler; a sister, Mariann Sidwell; several nieces nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Jurinich, II, on September 20, 2013. Friends may call on Wednesday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery.
