Barbara A. Ranallo, 78, of Medina, passed away on December 8, 2016 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Barb was born July 22, 1938, in Medina where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Frances (Trow) Ranallo.
Barb worked many years in the family business “Ranallo’s Bowling Lanes”. She also worked at Birdseye and Fisher-Price Toys.
She was an avid bowler who carried a 200+ average for many years. She bowled on teams in Buffalo and Rochester. In 1977, her team held a “World Record” for a single game of 1195. She was a Semi Pro bowler who travelled to numerous tournaments locally, across New York State and across the country. Her bowling peers were like a second family.
Barb was a simple person who just loved life, family and friends. Many of her dear friends nicknamed her “Pumpkin” or “Punkie”. Besides bowling, she loved playing cards, fishing, cars, pets and her vegetable gardens. Other favorite past times were riding her lawnmower, having a beer and being a proud member of the Turtle Club.
Aunt Barb, as most friends and family called her, never had children of her own but dearly loved her nieces and nephews as if her own. For many, she was like their second Mom.
Survivors include her brother, Frank (Pat) Ranallo and her sister, Janice (Carmen) Strianese; her nieces and nephews, Sandy (Barb), Pam and Frank, Jr., Ranallo, Chrissy (Rusty) Hoffmeister, Nicki Igoe, Shannon (Shawn) Blount, and Michael (Kim) Gray; great nieces and nephews, Frank Ranallo III, Anna, Alissa, Abby, and Ava Blount, Bella, Vinny, and Sam Gray, Tyler, Noah and Ashley Igoe.
Friends may call on Monday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina, where memories will be shared at 7PM. Interment will be in Millville Cemetery.
